Building Dedication in AC's Honor

LSUA Allied Health Center building dedicated to A.C. Buchanan

Here is the link to the newspaper article:

I am so proud!

There were several speakers, men that were the chairs of the different boards, Cheryl the COO at RRMC and yours truly. I wasn't nervous, but was very excited that a building was being dedicated to my husband, what an honor! It is a wonderful feeling to know that others in the community thought enough of him to dedicate a building to him.

Thank you!

This is the advertisement that will be in "Signature" magazine and a local newspaper, The TownTalk. I am always excited about creating pieces specifically for a show and really look forward to this one.

''Tiger''
Pastel on Paper
Collection of the Artist

I love my tigers and have always had a fascination with them since, well, forever. This gentleman was so easy to paint and went so quickly, I was in shock for days. I want/need to do another one soon.

''Cassidy at 3 yrs.old''
Pastel on Paper
Collection of the Artist

This is my grandaughter - a pastel painting done from a photograph. I did two of them and sent one to Cassidy right after it was completed. A lot of fun to paint.

This is one of the first water scenes I've done and loved every minute of it.

"Shannon At The Beach" - Pastel on Paper
Collection of the Artist

This is my daughter at age 3 taken from a photograph. It was a typical day at the beach - lots of sun, fun, and sand. Because the photo was taken in the shade, I tried to warm up the feeling of hot sun bearing down on her. This is one of my favorite paintings.

"After Veronese's 'Eternal Father and the Holy Spirit'"
oil on canvas - 16x20"
Collection of the Artist

Our city had an exhibit entitled "The Heart of Spain" and this was one of my husband's and my favorites. I have noticed in other museums throughout the world other painters with their easels set up, copying the great masters. Oh, to be able to do that! Relying on a book plate is frustrating, at best. Considering, God was not as hard as the **** cherubs... I considered them little devils for several weeks. I want to do more like this, but choosing the next one is proving difficult. Do I paint a series or start something new? I'm sure I could lug all my stuff to our museum every day and copy something there, but I am totally spoiled here in my own studio. I hope you enjoy my hard work. If you are doing anything like this, I would love to hear from you.

My New Studio is Finished -
I am so excited that our addition to the house is completed and I can paint and play at home. What the pictures don't show is all the dog toys on the floor. When you first walk in it looks like a "Doggy Day Care"...

My Old Studio - The pictures below show space I rented ina local art center until school children on a field trip ruined a piece I had been working on. Shame on me for leaving in a hurry and leaving supplies out in the open and not locked up. Since we have added on to our home with my own studio, I find I work a lot more now since I can paint whenever I want to, any hour of the day. Of course my new studio is packed with even more stuff now than before, but ever since I've gotten into altered art I have been collecting more supplies and that is just the name of the game.

"Red Zinnias" - Pastel On Paper- For Sale
Inside dimensions 27"x32"

Who doesn't enjoy a bright, vibrant color every now and then? The actual painting is wider than this shows.

"Train Station" - Pastel on Paper
Private Collection of Richard Gwartney/Tommy Brasher

This is from a shot taken from travels to Great Britain - wet and chilly! I love showing movement and the colors were fun to work with.

"Rocks" - Pastel on Paper

Collection of the Artist

I love to paint rock formations and have sold several in this series. The color changes fascinate me and challenge me to look for colors other than 'brown'.

"Crane" - Pastel on Paper

Collection of Ann Rice

I love cranes and had a lot of fun with this guy. He is in rich, warm hues of light browns and grays.

"Monk's View" - Pastel on Paper
Collection of the Artist

While visiting a cathedral in Assisi, Italy we were in a courtyard that was surrounded by these incredibly beautiful living quarters for the monks. I love architecture and was fascinated with this shot. The insides of the buildings were cool and dark as you would expect...
